Ida Updates |
| 11/18/09
- Clean up continues, driveways are being replaced and things are being
readied for Thanksgiving holidays. |
| 11/14/09
- Street clearing continues, Town has additional help this weekend and
is doing a great job clearing streets to provide access. Bienville
Blvd is clear all the way down and the Town is clearing west end side
streets working from east to west and contractors are working from west
to east, sand is being piled on right of ways for return to
beaches. No info yet on the when new rock will be placed on
side streets from Seneca Ct west, however each side street has had
enough sand removed to allow emergency access.
The check point at Raphael Semmes is expected to end on Monday.
Contractors are being allowed access to the west end, but must have a
valid re-entry pass (obtainable from Town Hall) and if they are engaged
in repair, sand removal or replacement or work of any kind - THEY MUST
HAVE A PERMIT FROM TOWN HALL.
No current timeline to address the return of sand to beaches or
re-rocking of roads, drainage ditches etc, More information should
be available early next week, but so far work is moving quickly.
Links of interest - For those of you who have not seen it yet, click SHORELINE
for a link to the Dr Scott Douglas presentation to the Town on shoreline
stabilization from October. The Town's SAND
REMOVAL ordinance is also available for view. |

Street department hopes to have all paved west end streets cleared by
Thanksgiving. Click

- Road work continues in the 2300 block of Bienville. Water has been
restored on the NORTH side of Bienville Blvd to the end of Bienville and
south of Bienville to the 2600 block. The court streets past the 2600
Block (Seneca thru Westward Ho) have a good number of homes with broken
water lines that will have to be identified, repaired and the unbroken
lines cleared of sand. Water department hopes to accomplish the
bulk of the work by Thanksgiving. Check point is up at Rapheal Semmes
Ct, must have re-entry card for access past that point. Click

- Ida did some damage to west
end streets, some stairs, driveways, etc. More detail will follow but
here are some early images. Power is confirmed to be restored as far as
Taos Court (may be farther, will update later). Water service has been
checked and restored as far as the 2600 block of Bienville Blvd (around
Sehoy Ct & Bridgeview Ct) and so far no major breaks or problems
have been found. Water department will continue west 11/11/09.
Town road crews are working to clear Bienville Blvd of sand, which is
deep in areas, but also has sections where storm did not cover it with
sand. We have or are in the process of contacting upcoming
renters, but feel free to call our office toll free 877-861-3992. |
